How Can severe Social Anxiety Disorder Be Treated?

Hello sir/mam I am facing problems in smiling. I was initially diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, about 5years ago. Now the symptoms are improved but my facial tremor when smiling specially is still there. I am very easy at bonding with people but my facial blushing (cheeks tremble when smile) is not letting me live my life. I also usually feel a kind of vibration/stiffness in my cheeks. Recently i asked my psychologist about this condition n she said it has nothing to do with NEUROLOGY. please help me.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your psychologist is correct. your symptoms are not because of any neurological problems but they are manifestation of anxiety.

If you symptoms are too much bothersome to you than I would recommend seeing a psychiatrist and take medications that help with social anxiety disorder.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Saralkumar R. Desai, General & Family Physician
